Sunrise and sunset in your city
When the sun comes up and goes down where you are, today and for the next month, with dawn, dusk and the golden hour. Drag the sun across the sky. Computed on the spot, nothing uploaded.
Finding your sky
What this page shows
Sunrise, sunset, solar noon and the length of the day for wherever you are, then dawn and dusk in all three flavours (civil, nautical, astronomical), the golden hour and the blue hour, and the next thirty days in a table so you can watch the evenings stretch or shrink. Every city has its own page, so a search for the city name plus sunrise brings you straight to today's numbers.
How the sky band works
The band is one day, midnight to midnight, in the city's own time. The curve is the sun's height above the horizon; the dark stripes are the twilights and night; the lighter stripes either side of sunrise and sunset are the golden hours. Drag the sun to any minute and the readout tells you how high it is and which way to look for it. Arrow keys move a minute at a time, Shift for fifteen.
How the numbers are made
No tables are looked up. The times come from the NOAA solar position equations run on the city's latitude and longitude, first at the network edge so they are in the page before any script loads, then again in your browser as you drag. The city's time zone and its daylight saving rules come from the standard IANA database, so the times are always in local clock time. Expect them to be right to within a minute against a flat horizon.

What stays here
Everything on this page is arithmetic on a latitude, a longitude and the clock. Your rough location comes from the network address your connection presents, city-level at best; the Use my location button asks the browser for a better one and never sends it anywhere. No account, no cookies, nothing typed here is stored. The only thing this page records is that a city was looked up, and which one.
